These shoes, while rather cool to the eye, are unfortunately my worst purchase from Alberville (I have seven other pairs of shoes from the brand, invariably wonderful) that I wish I hadn't made. I have postponed this review till I could wear the boots for a while so I could stand by my initial not terribly good impression (and given the other very positive review which encouraged me to go for them). They do run large - I fit in size 39 without much difficulty even now when my feet, normally size 40, have grown after a pregnancy. So do follow the sizing advice should you decide to buy them. The shoes, however, are not as comfortable as their look may lead you to think, starting with the lacing to put them on, then the hard fortified back around the heel giving me blisters and so doing the front (being not small in size), even after I've broken them pretty good (and wearing them for a whole day). Unfortunately, the front of the gum sole has become ruffled only after three weeks of wear, not very sightly indeed. And the leather has sustained scratches on the inner side around the heel from accidental friction between the feet that probably can be covered with the right colour of shoe polish, should you happen to have it (I don't). What adds some more bitterness is that I purchased these shoes with a 20% pre-Christmas discount that, upon receiving another 40% discount code on the last day of Christmas, felt like a bad clickbait deal. Had the shoes been as wonderful as my others from the brand, I wouldn’t have minded one bit paying the 300kr extra. Despite this experience with this particular pair of boots, my high regard for Alberville remains and l will not shun from buying again, just being more careful in my choices.
Leigh Offwhite lace-up boots are really comfortable and I love the color!
